Shawn was happy that his son, James was helping him. James had been reading the Bible every day to Shawn. It improved James' reading. Which pleased Shawn. James had come a long way. His education had improved all lot. Shawn has been getting all lot letters from James' teacher. The teacher said, James will be a good preacher because he loves to read the Bible. James would grow up to be a great man.
James stopped the cart front of the Sheriff's office, "We are there, Paw,” James said to his father as he pulled the reins to stop the two horses and the cart. How Shawn loved him! James had brought peace and joy to Shawn. James was Shawn's pride and joy.
Smiling to the little man beside him, Shawn placed his calloused hand on James' little shoulder. “You did a good job, son,” Shawn praised his son. Shawn wanted his son to feel special. He had a special attachment to his son. Like his wonderful wife. His wife was loyal, smart, cheerful and always full energy. James has the same quality of Elizabeth.
Shawn pulled his hand to the side. He hated to fumble around. It was the worst experience, but he was getting used to it. He felt the soft wood under his left hand, placing his weight on his hand. He slowly pulled myself over and down to the ground. He was moving his hand to touch the wagon wheel, he took three steps away from it. He did not bother to get his foot ran over. He was being blind. He would not care to have a broken foot. It would add another obstacle in his life.
“Watch over the wagon, son,” Shawn told his son. Slowly, Shawn used his walking staff to find the wooden stairs. He felt his boot hit the wood, one step at a time, he climbed the stairs. Remembering the lay out when he was not blind. Shawn knew the door was ahead of him. He walked forward, pushing the door open with his hand, he entered the office, “Hello Sheriff may I have your time,” he asked. There was a foul stench from the back of the office. It had to be a drunk.
